BOOK REVIEW

Everyone would like to know about a book before reading it. A review or atleast some word of mouth publicity. So here goes, a review of the book “THE GREATEST SALESMAN IN THE WORLD”. This book is a masterpiece by Og Mandino. It was a New York Times bestseller, first published in 1968. Since then, it has been translated into 22 languages and sold over 50 million copies worldwide. It is a 128-page work of fiction moulded into a book on selling

It narrates the story of a poor camel boy, with a dream of becoming a merchant to impress his love. Moved by his resolute attitude, the master gives him his secret of success, a chest containing ten scrolls. These scrolls are the ten principles that Mandino gives us, the first one giving instructions on how to read the rest. . The scrolls give us a habit each that can change our attitude and bring about a lot of positive changes in life. The scrolls each contain a simple, yet effective principle that teaches us not only the art of selling but the art of living itself.

I read once in a Zig Ziglar book that every action that we do in our life is selling or buying something. This book reinforces that principle with its nine scrolls. Though having a few Christian preachings and being repetitive at a few places, the book is embedded with some beautiful examples too. A book having the power to change people’s lives, it is a must read for any budding entrepreneur.
